A Challenge

Your most adorable five year old brings you breakfast in bed!  A chocolate chip muffin and a chocolate doughnut!  Thanks to your husband who brought them home!! I wouldn't say my husband was trying to sabotage me.  He was getting treats for himself!  My 5 year old was just being sweet.  But these are the challenges we face and how we handle them.

Well, I decided to eat the smaller muffin!  He was so proud!  I did forgo the doughnut!  He had lost interest by then! Now it's time to eat my protein so I don't crash!

Plan Your Week

I am down 17 pounds!!  I am feeling pretty good!  The clothes are getting looser!  Even my rings are loose!

Some things I am doing!

  • Visited my doctor!  Gave me an appetite suppressant.  It is really helping but I'm not only using this!  I'm working hard!
  • Keeping chips out of the house!!
  • Keep Beef Jerky Sticks or Tender Bites in my desk at work
  • String cheese makes a great snack too!
  • I love the Greek yogurt.  Make sure to read the labels.  Some contain a lot of carbs.
  • Eggs in the morning!  Keep boiled eggs ready for days you can't cook.
  • Pre-make your salads for lunch.  Found this great idea on pinterest.  Use Mason jars - put your veggies, cheese, meat, dressing on the bottom and build your salad.  Lettuce on top. I leave off the dressing and take it along in portion cups.  The salads keep a long time.
  • Prebag your veggies so they are easy to take along.
  • Portion cups for ranch dressing for the veggies.
  • Reduce the fruit - they contain carbs!  Smoothies are not a good choice!!
  • Exercise - I went to the gym twice this week!  Hey that's pretty good!  I did 6 miles on the bike!

I'm motivated and I'm going to keep going!!  Join me!  I'm on vacation this week so I will need to be focused on being active!

Cutting the Carbs

I have poly cystic ovarian syndrome and Type II diabetes.  My endocrinologist has recommended that I go on a low glycemic index diet or insulin resistant diet.  Basically lower my carb intake!  Well, I didn't realize fruit, milk and yogurt contained so many carbs.  I thought I was eating healthy foods!  So this week I have changed what I'm eating.  It actually has been easier than I thought.  The protein makes me much fuller.  I have already lost 6 pounds this week!  I hope I can keep it up.  Please pray for me to continue on this successful journey and I would love for you to join me.

This week to help out I broiled 5 chicken breasts on Sunday.  I diced them up and sprinkled Mrs. Dash on them.  Yummy on my salads, alone and one day a baked potato with a little ranch dressing!

God's blessings to your upcoming week!

Trying!

This week hasn't been perfect but I have been trying!  I have cut down my food consumption but the cravings sure are tough.  I so want some chips.  It 's not in the house so that's good.

I am a teacher and students are constantly bringing birthday treats to us.  I turned down a cupcake! Yeah for me!  I also didn't buy Girl Scout cookies!

Small Steps!

School is canceled for Monday - we are going to have -35 to -50 wind chills.  Past -10 who cares IT'S COLD!  Pray we all survive!

Sad

It's pretty sad that it has been a year exactly since I blogged in Daily Crave!  I did not make losing weight priority in my life.  Many things took over: my job, kids, house, extra job, blogging for teaching and sadly eating for enjoyment, stress or boredom!

I need to take care of myself!  I need to get healthy so I can take less medication and live my life with my family!  We are thinking of going to Yellowstone and hiking!  Honestly that sounds like a lot of work and sweat so if this is what the family wants to do I need to get my butt moving and change so I can enjoy the vacation too!

We moved our Wii system to the basement so I'm looking to use the Biggest Loser game to help me out.  I need to make time to go to the gym not just pay for the membership.  I wish I had a friend to do this with me!

So here's to 2014!  Join me and help me to keep going!
